How we work
The environment your child receives their therapy in can make a real difference to the success of the treatment. That’s why we offer sessions in a range of formats.
Initial Consultation Session
We start by carrying out an in-depth assessment of your child. This may take place either in our North London clinic or on Zoom. After this first consultation, we provide you with our initial impressions and our recommendations for treatment.
This would include type of therapy, number of sessions and frequency of sessions.
One-to-one sessions in person
Some children find it easier to discuss their concerns with a therapist away from the family home. Our practice in North London provides a calm and welcoming space for children to talk.
If your child is very young, we’d recommend a parent is present during the sessions.
One-to-one sessions online
If your child finds the idea of coming into a clinic overwhelming or they’re simply more comfortable accessing therapy from home, we offer sessions via Zoom. We’ve found children who receive treatment online achieve the same – and in some cases better – outcomes as those we meet in clinic.
We’re happy to include parents in our Zoom sessions, if appropriate.
Family sessions
In some cases, it can be beneficial to include other family members in your child’s treatment plan as often the challenges they’re trying to overcome can affect the wider family. We would advise on whether family sessions were appropriate following our initial assessment.
Family sessions can take place either in person or online.
